Virtools Web Player is a legacy browser plug‑in from Dassault Systèmes that enabled real-time, interactive 3D experiences built with Virtools (later known as 3DVIA Virtools) to run directly inside web pages. It bundled a lightweight runtime engine with support for hardware-accelerated graphics, audio, physics, and user input, making it suitable for simulations, product configurators, serious games, and training content. The player supported asset streaming for faster load times and integrated with then-popular browsers via NPAPI and ActiveX. It was later rebranded as 3D Life Player and 3DVIA Player.
Due to the industry-wide retirement of browser plug-in architectures, Virtools Web Player is now considered legacy software and is not compatible with modern browsers. Existing content typically requires an older, controlled environment to run.
